Week 4 in class one

15 Mar 2023

In Science this week, we had a special PE lesson where we focused on healthy hearts. We had a carousel of activities, some of which were designed to get the heart pumping faster and others to get our hearts to slow and recover. As we completed the activities, we kept checkng our heart rate and considering how we felt. It was a lot of fun and very interesting to feel how our heart rate changes based on the activity.

Also, in Science, we completed an experiment. Our focus was how hygiene and how we can prevent illness by washing our hands. We began by considering how it feels to be ill and how we get better. Then we thought about how we control illness, a good way to do this is to wash our hands with soap. To show this, we conducted an experiment. We had water with pepper mixed in and we dipped our fingers in. The pepper stuck to our finger. We then tried it again but with soap on our hands and the pepper moved away in the water. This showed us how the soap gets rid of germs.

On Friday, it was Red Nose Day. We spent the first part of the morning, learning about the charity and completing lots of fun activities. We did a Lego challenge, some lovely colouring and decorated biscuits.
