The final half term - week 1

10 Jun 2021

Week 1 - Back again!

This week we are continuing 'Our wonderful world' theme and asking 'How does your garden grow?'

We shared the story of Jaspers beanstalk and wrote our own version of the story. We each wrote our own page.

In RE we are looking at which places are special and why. We started by looking at Miss Wrays special places in school and then thought about the parts of school which are special to us.

In phonics this week we have been playing with words! We have been changing a letter to make a different word and adding letters to make new, longer words.
We have been using our phonics to read sentences and match them to pictures and reading questions then deciding if the answer is yes or no.

For homework this week I would like you to do some word building.

In maths we have been making number stories and solving addition and subtraction problems. The children have used their ten frames to represent numbers to 20.

Exciting news... our painted lady butterflies are beginning to hatch! We spotted 2 butterflies this afternoon and are still waiting for the other 3 to emerge. We have given them some food and will be releasing them next week.

Next week is our trip to Harlow Carr on Wednesday! We have been counting down the days and getting very excited smiley

Have a lovely weekend Class 1 - See you on Monday!
