Monday 6th July

Good Morning Class One! I hope you had a lovely weekend....despite the wind!
This week we are having an:

ENRICHMENT WEEK

Our theme is:
MINDFULNESS
which is all about remembering how fantastic we each are,
thinking about what makes us unique and special, and reminding us how to look after ourselves, each other and the world around us.
It is also about celebrating the things we are good at
and the things we have achieved.
(I have included lots of Mindfulness colouring sheets in the link).

Collective Worship this week is all about Joy.
Go to Class 2's page to join in!

Let's start the day by looking at some of your

Wonderful Work from last week.

Mindfulness can be about reminding ourselves about all the things we are good at and things that make us good friends.
I have been thinking about some of the things that make all of you special,
Class One and I have recorded a short video clip for you to watch!

Have a chat with your grown-up or talk to your friends and your Teacher. Tell them what makes your friends special. What makes them a good friend?
You could write it on a piece of paper and send me a photo or even send me a video clip to go on tomorrow's Class Page?

Here is a story about a little boy, who forgot all the things
that made him special.
I hope you can remember all the things that make you special.
It's called, I'm Special, I'm Me.

What makes you special? Are you the same as Milo?
Are you good at the same things or different things?
Do you like the same things?
Make a model of something that you like and send me a photo or take a picture of your favourite teddy or your favourite toy.

We've been working hard this morning.
Here is a Cosmic Yoga
Video for you to join in with!

I think you're going to like the song I've found for you today!
I think you know this one and you'll know all the actions!
If You're Happy And You Know It!

Draw a picture of something that makes you happy.
Or, you could draw something you did that made you happy,
e.g. playing with your friends, going to the park.
Send me your picture and I will share it on our Class Page tomorrow.

Would you like to do some 'mindfulness activities' outside?
Find a spot outside - it might be a good idea to sit down, if it's dry.
We're going to think about the world outside, using our senses.
It's a good way to remember how lucky we are for everything around us.
Also, being outside, away from our TVs and devices is a good way to relax.
Can you tell your grown-up our 5 senses?
What do your senses make you notice outside?
Can you hear or see any of these things?

After you have finished your Senses Hunt, why don't you gather together some natural materials from outside and make a picture?
This picture is called a Mandala. People have been making Mandalas for many many years. They are usually made up of lots of different colours and patterns.
They are meant to show the planets, life (humans and animals), the sun and sometimes the weather and they are usually a circular shape.

Using natural materials found outside to create mandalas is a ...

I hope you had fun making your Mandala.
I promised that I would read out more from my Friendship Jar.
So let's see who's name I pick out this afternoon!

Here is a funny episode of Little Princess to finish the day. It's called I Want To Be A Baby!

Our Projects

Over the next few weeks we will be reflecting on our personal achievements this year and celebrating being able to see more of our family and friends once more. We will be looking to the future and to our new classes and Teachers.

The project this week aims to provide opportunities for your child to learn more about Celebrations. Learning may focus and different types of celebrations that take place and who may celebrate them. It could look at how people celebrate different events differently in other parts of the world.
● Family Photographs
Look over a selection of photographs of family celebrations and discuss with your
child: what the celebration was about, who attended, what you did to celebrate, when it took place, whether it is an event that happens each year. Can your child remember the event taking place? What do they remember of it?
● Plan a family celebration-
Decide on a family celebration for the week. This could be a family picnic, meal, dance etc. Ask your child to write invitations to family members to the
party.
Create homemade decorations using coloured paper
(If you do not have coloured paper at home, you could
use old newspaper or wrapping paper) You could make
paper chains or bunting
Plan a menu for the party and make the food together.
● Discover religious celebrations-
Watch the Let’s Celebrate video collection for Easter. Discuss the celebrations with your child. Did they celebrate Easter? Which of the events did they take part in? https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/watch/lets-celebrate-easter
Watch the Let’s Celebrate video collection for Eid-al-Fitr. Discuss the celebrations
with your child. Did they celebrate Eid-al-Fitr? How did they celebrate? Are there any similarities and differences between the celebrations they saw in the Easter videos? https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/puzzles/lets-celebrate-eid
Look through the range of videos available on Cbeebies and watch together. Discuss who celebrates the event and any similarities and differences with celebrations your child has taken part in.
● Birthdays
Talk to your child about when they were born. Look at photographs of the day they were born, if you have them available. Do they know the date of their birthday? Support your child to create an all about me folding book (as pictured) with their birth
date, current age and anything else they think is important for people to know about them.

I hope you enjoy our Mindfulness Enrichment Week! Don't forget to send me your news, photos and videos for the Class Page! Have fun! Mrs Hebblewhite x
