Week 8 - Autumn term

02 Nov 2021

This week in Class 1...

On Wednesday, we had some visitors in school. Emma from Wild Science had brought in some of her friends for us to meet. We were able to touch and hold the animals. Some were cute and furry but others were a bit scary!

It was a super start to our learning about different animals, over the next few weeks we are going to be learning about different habitats and the animals who live there - we will travel to the woods, the jungle and under the sea!

On Thursday it was the Hindu festival of Diwali. We listened to a story about how Diwali is celebrated and thought about the things we celebrate and how they are similar. We also made diyas out of clay and made our own Rangoli.

On Friday it was bonfire night. We listened to the history of bonfire night and talked about how it is remembered. We also made some firework pictures.

In phonics this week we have met some new sounds:

ff                            ll                          ss
                              j

In maths, we have been exploring the numbers 4 and 5. We have been using our counting skills to sort groups of objects and looking at different ways to make the numbers 4 and 5.
Have a lovely weekend,
Remember, you can add any out of school learning onto Evidence me to share in school - this can be a new activity you have tried, a new skill you have learned or something you have found out.
