Spring 1 - week 6

09 Feb 2022

This week in Class 1...

We shared the story of Handa's Surprise.

We found out some information about the animals in the story and wrote our own labels       to go with their pictures.

In the story, Handa is taking some fruit to her      friend. We used our senses to describe the fruit and create paintings of some of the fruit and even used the fruit to make some prints.

We used our phonic knowledge to write a sentence about what happened in the story.

We were keen to see inside the fruit and try some of it too. We made a human chart to show which was our favourite - the orange won!

In RE this week we explored what is wonderful about our world. We discussed how Christian's believe that God made the world and everything on it and thought about what our favourite things about the Earth were - animals, sunshine, moon, people who make things like trains and buildings.

We had lots of ideas and thought of ways to help look after it.

Here are some of our ideas:
"When trees are chopped down, plant new trees"
"put your rubbish in the bin"
"don't put rubbish in the rivers and seas"
"tidy up!"

Next week it is our whole school pupil voice week. We will be having lots of fun working with the children from the other classes in our new teams and are looking forward to sharing what we have been up to with you all on Thursday!

Have a lovely weekend, See you on Monday smiley
