Autumn 2 - week 6

09 Dec 2020

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

This week we have been feeling a little more festive in class 1.

We had a lovely Christmas lunch on Wednesday. We made party hats and place mats to make it extra special smiley

In our creative area we have been dreaming of a white Christmas making snowmen.

We listened to the story of the Nativity and remembered that Mary and Joseph travelled to Bethlehem and baby Jesus was born in a stable. We knew that the Wise men followed a star and the angels told the shepherds about the special baby from our own Christmas play. We used pictures from the story to sequence and retold it in our own words.

We have had a fun Ch
ristmas jumper day today. We joined Mr Motivator this morning to warm up our bodies and designed our own Christmas jumpers. We finished the day listening and dancing to the Christmas jumper day playlist and had a game of musical chairs!

In phonics we have been continuing to revisit our phonemes from phase 2 and our tricky words. We helped Santa find the missing letters for his presents and sorted the presents into the right stockings by their initial phoneme. We have been practicing our writing too with some lovely sentences. Well done for the super word lists last weekend. This weekend I have a challenge for you, you can choose either the Santa challenge or the Rudolph challenge:

How many words can you make using the letters in...   Father Christmas

Can you find something around your house that begins with each of the letters in the word... Christmas

In number work this week we have been finding 1 less. We sang lots of songs to help us remember what happens to the numbers when we take one away. Can you practice counting forwards and backwards?

1      2      3      4      5                                                5      4     3      2      1

Only 14 sleeps! Have a twinkly weekend, see you on Monday for 1 last week!!
