CLASS 1 Tuesday 30th June

RHebblewhite - 26 Jun 2020

Tuesday 30th June

Good Morning Class One, I hope you had a brilliant start to the week.

Loving-Kindness Meditation | Practice | Greater Good in Action

Good Morning everyone! Welcome to Tuesday's
Collective Worship,With Mrs Hebblewhite.

Our theme this week is:

HOW TO DRAW LOVE IN 3D - YouTube

Yesterday we looked at the story Guess How Much I Love You  and we reflected on ways
that we show each other our love

  • Can you think of some of the ways that your Mums and Dads show you that they love you everyday?Sometimes, the smallest things can show you that they love you. For instance, making you your breakfast, or even checking that you have cleaned your teeth!
  • Can you think of three things that you could do today, to show them that you love them?

Over the last three months, showing our love has been especially important to us all.  We haven't been able to see our loved ones whenever we want - our Grandmas and Grandads and school friends. It has been a difficult time for us and sometimes we have all felt a little bit sad.
BUT...
Thanks to the love that we have for each other: our Mums and Dads, school friends, brothers and sisters (most of the time!!), we supported each other and we did not give up. We kept working hard on our school work, we kept smiling and we didn't let things get us down.

Now I'd like to share an advert with you, which makes me feel happy when I see it, because it reminds me of all of you and of our school community. Watch carefully,
because this week I am setting you all a task,
which involves this song!

I hope you enjoyed that. The advert is all about supporting each other, reminding each other that we care
and staying in touch.

  • Can you share some of the ways that you and your family and friends have supported each other and shown each other your love during Lockdown?

Some of us are back at school now and some of us are still at home.  Many of us are still missing our friends, family and colleagues, and it is important that we continue to stay in touch with each other and to show our love and support.

This week, as a way of coming together, we are going to make a video to the song
'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now'
.

SO...children AND TEACHERS!!
Get your hairbrushes ready!
Send me a short video clip
- no longer than 20 seconds
,
of you doing something that you enjoy.
Don't worry, you don't have to sing!

Ethan and I (well maybe me more than Ethan!), couldn't resist making our own pop video,
to give you a bit of inspiration!

Obvioulsy, I don't expect anyone to top my amazing acting skills and choreography (!!), but nevertheless, I am looking forward to receiving your video clips!
As I will have a lot of clips to fit in,
I'm afraid I won't be able to show the whole 20 seconds, but I will get you all in!
You need to send them to me by Friday to (Class1@gfschools.co.uk).

Let's finish with a prayer
God our Father I come to say, thank you for your love today. Thank ...

Amen.

I hope you have enjoyed today's Collective Worship.

Have a great day everyone!
Missing you!
Mrs Hebblewhite x

And finally...(if you have time)
Here's a song you may enjoy -  'All You Need Is Love'
by The Beatles (performed by the Beetle Bugs!)

Hello again, Class One!
Here is today's puzzle.
Count to find out which type of transport
appears the most times and write down your answers.

Here's letter 'm', if you would like to practise this today.
Start at the top, then go down, back up and over the hills.
(Link to the letter formation sheets at the top).

Here is another Transport song, for you to join in with
I think you might know this one!
Bouncing Up and Down On A Big Red Tractor.

Phonics

Perhaps today you would like to would like to practise our 'air' sound again.
Watch this video clip

Perhaps you could practise the 'air' sound by playing a game of word bingo. You and your grown-up will need to write out 6-8 'air' words to 'draw from a hat' and each make a bingo sheet, like mine. Practise blending the words as your grown-up robot talks them.
(Link to the top to download these sheets.)

You can also find some activity sheets at the top of the page,
to practise writing your 'air' sound on your own.

Now, watch this short video clip about different types of Transport.
Link to the activity sheet at the top, to write your own Transport sentence. Then, you can go off and build your own transport model!

Do you remember thi
s Indoor Exercise Workout?

Maths

Today we're going to look at our Number formation.
Practise those numbers that you find tricky, like 2, 5 and 8.

(Link to the top, to find a number formation activity sheet).

Yesterday, we used fruit to compare the weights of two things.
Today, let's learn how to use 'see-saw' scales to compare weights.
If you are at home, make some of your own,
using a coat hanger and some yoghurt pots.

How to Make a Balance Scale for Kids: 9 Steps (with Pictures)
Record what you have found.
Which object is heavier, heaviest, lighter, lightest?

And finally...Here's a story to end a busy day!
If you have heard it before, make sure you join in!
It's called Stick Man, by Julia Donaldson.

Our Projects

The project this week aims to provide opportunities for your child to learn more about transport. Learning may focus on modes of transport, transport in the past, the science behind transport, road safety and how to be safe around water.
Make Paper Planes
● Make paper airplanes using this guide:

https://www.foldnfly.com/#/1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2
Ask your child/ children to come up with a name for their airplane and write this on the side. Have a competition to see whose airplane will fly the furthest/ highest. You could ask them to create a certificate for the winner. Take a photograph of the winning plane to share your success and upload to Twitter at #TheLearningProject.
Traffic Lights
● Play the traffic light game- Ask your child to help create a set of traffic lights. This could be as detailed or simple as you like. Ask your child to run around the garden/ outdoor space. When you point to a colour on the traffic light they have to do the following: ○ Red- Stop or freeze where they are ○ Orange- Walk slowly ○ Green- Run You can extend this by adding in different colours or actions e.g. when you bounce a ball on the ground, they have to jump up and down.
Make a Boat
● Follow the instructions make your very own origami boat:

https://www.origamiway.com/origami-boat.shtml
● Collect different materials from around your house. Paper, yoghurt pots, cereal boxes, tinfoil cake tins. Which objects make the best boats? Which boat will carry the most coins or marbles? You could float these in a paddling pool, in the sink or in the bath.
● Give instructions to guide each other around the house/garden i.e. forward two steps, turn left, forward two more steps.
● Can you support your child in drawing a map to show the way around the house?
Learn to Ride a Bike
● Support your child in learning to ride a bike. They could even do an obstacle course to help develop their control or have races to improve their speed.

Have fun, Class One and remember to look after each other!
Take care, love from Mrs Hebblewhite, Fred the Ted, Croccy and Boris xxx
