This week - 17.5.21

19 May 2021

This week in class 1...

We have some visitors in our classroom!

Some little creatures came in the post today, the box said FRAGILE on it and we had fun guessing what could be inside. When we opened the box we found a little tub with 5 wriggly little caterpillars inside. We are looking forward to seeing how they grow and change over the next few weeks.

We shared the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and sequenced the pictures to help us to retell the story. We also did some super writing.

We have also been using our map reading skills to hunt for minibeast facts and follow a minibeast trail around our classroom.
We enjoyed making our own treasure maps too

In phonics we have continued to revisit tricky words and phonemes from phase 2 and 3. We have been practising blending for reading and segmenting for writing. Our homework this week is a word jumble - can you find the tricky words that have got muddled?

In maths this week we have been combining groups to find totals. We have been using objects to help us and using our counting skills to check.

After the half term holiday we are going to be going on our very first trip! We are going to Harlow Carr gardens. A letter will be coming out next week with all the information you need but if you have any questions, please get in touch and I will be happy to talk to you about it further smiley

Only one more week to go! Have a lovely weekend!
