Autumn 2 - Week 5

02 Dec 2020

The countdown
has begun!

This week, our classroom has transformed into a Christmas wonderland. There are twinkly lights, tinsel, a tree and a little elf who keeps leaving a chocolate in our advent calendar!

We ha
ve been very busy this week rehearsing for our christmas play and we are all very proud of ourselves and how hard we have worked to learn the songs and act out our parts
- we can't wait for you to see it
smiley

We have been talking about our own Christmas traditions and how Christmas is celebrated around the world. We found out that some other countries celebrate in similar ways to us by having a special meal, decorating their homes and giving presents but in Australia they won't be building snowmen because it is hot and sunny on Christmas Day!

Here is some of our Christmas artwork this week:

In maths we have been adding 1 more. We have been making groups and towers that have one more than a number and looking at the number line to put the numbers in order.

In phonics this week we have been revisiting the phonemes:
 s   a   t   p   i   n   m   d   g   o

We have been doing a lot of word building using these phonemes and developing our understanding of how to write a sentence. We know that a sentence starts with a capital letter, has spaces between words and finishes with a full stop.

At home, can you see how many words you can make using the letters above? Or could you find things around your house that begin with these letters? There will be a prize if you can find 10 words!

Only 21 sleeps!! Have a lovely weekend smiley
