Monday 15th June

Good Morning Class One, I hope you've had a great weekend!
I am looking forward to seeing more of your Wonderful Work this week!
Here are some of your proud moments from last week!

Let's start the day with some letter formation practise.
You can find our practise sheets at the top of the page.
Remember to.....

Let's practise writing 'a' today.
Remember to start on the dot at top and follow the arrow.

(Perhaps you could mark a dot on your letters first).

I have found a fun, new song for us to sing this week!
Our project this week is 'Countries Around the World'.
This song is called 'All Around The World'.

Let's practise our blending today. Go to 'Phonics Play' website.
You can can play 'Obb and Bob', 'Dragon's Den' or 'Buried Treasure'.
Here are some instructions:

First, make sure you select 'go to new website', when prompted.

The username is 'march20' and password, 'home'

Click to select a game.
Click on: Phase 3
Select: set 1-7+oi (or any digraph that you want to practise).

Handa's Surprise | Children's Books Wiki | Fandom

Our project this week is all about 'Countries of The World'.
Watch the story Handa's Surprise, set in Africa.
Talk to your grown-up about the animals we see when we go out for a walk and the animals Handa sees. What else is different about where Handa lives?

Which food would you buy from the shop in our country,
to give to your friends and family?
Write  and draw a list of the treats you would buy,
and who you would buy them for.

Helping Hands Nursery

At the top of the page, link to a 'food' word mat and digraph word mat,
to help you with your independent writing.
Don't forget to put your writing on lines
and remember to dangle those long-legged letters below!

You can also find lots of fun worksheets all about the story
Handa's Surpise at the top of the page.

Our project this week is 'Countries of The World'. Look at these different flags. Can you spot and name the 2D shapes?
Design your own 'Fountains Flag' using the 2D shapes
that you have learned

Flags of the World Quizzes

There is also a 'Missing Numbers African Animals' worksheet.
at the top of the page.

Here is a fun Cosmic Yoga
Video for you to join in with!

Here is an episode of Peppa Pig, called 'Peppa Goes Around The World'

This week's project

The project this week aims to provide opportunities for your child to learn more about countries and cities around the world. Learning may focus on different cultures and traditions, famous landmarks, food and clothing.
Look at flags from around the world. Discuss which are your child’s favourites and why? Ask your child to design and make their own flag using 2d shapes.
Food Tasting
Find some different foods/fruits from around the world and taste each one. These might include: pizza (Italy), curry (India) and taco (Mexican) or the fruits from the story Handa's Surprise.
Your child can create a chart putting a tick next to each food they like and a cross next to the foods they dislike over the course of the week.
Pleasing Puppets
Make your own Handa’s Surprise character puppet.
Toys From Around The World
Look at this photography project of children with their toys from around the world.
Can your child draw their favourite toy and write a sentence explaining why this is their favourite?
Where In The World
Discuss with your child where your family comes from in the world. If you have them available, show your child photographs of where you, or their grandparents, grew up. This might be similar to where they live now or completely different. Encourage your child to think about the differences between the places.
Discuss how life is the same and how life is different in other countries.
Engineering Around The World
A bridge helps people move over obstacles like a river, a valley or a busy road. The world’s longest bridge is in China and is 164.8km long. It would take more than two days to walk the length of this bridge. Do you have any bridges near your home? What do they look like?
Try building a bridge out of paper, Lego or any other building materials you might have at home. Your bridge needs to be big enough for a toy car or small toy to travel in.

Have a great week, everyone!
Love from Mrs Hebblewhite, Fred the Ted, Boris and Croccy! xxx
