Comment t'appelles-tu?!

R Hebblewhite - 31 Jan 2020

This week we have been exploring our number  bonds. We have had fun using pebbles, bananas, petals  and even pasta to find as many ways as we could to make numbers to seven, by combining two sets. We are very proud of the new Maths words, 'add' and 'equals' that we have learnt, to explain our number sentences!

In Phonics, we have learnt a new sound, 'ng' and we have been playing lots of different games to practise, because it is one of the first sounds that we have learnt, which is never found at the start of a word. We have been robot talking and blending words such as 'sing', 'ding', 'bang' and 'ring'.

The highlight of our week has been planting our new primroses, to brighten up our outdoor area.  Before we planted our flower, we looked carefully at each part of our plant. We talked about the different jobs that each part has and we listened to how insects and bees spread pollen from one plant to another, to make a seed. Next week we be making zig-zag books, to explain to the rest of the school how to plant a flower.

To finish off our week, Tommy taught us how to ask someone's name in French, so we learnt a song, to help us remember. We also played parachute games in the hall, to practise the names of the fruits and vegetables that we have been learning, so that we can ask for our morning snacks in French!

This week it is Sebastian’s turn to feature on the friendship wall of fame. Class one had plenty of kind words, including "You let me join in with your games" (Max), "You are nice to play with" (Duncan) and "Seb is really nice" (Isaac Smith).

I hope you all have a great weekend!
