English and portraits
10 Jul 2024
This week we have been looking at summer poems, depite the lovely weather! The children have read lots of poems from different poets. The children have enjoyed looking at different styles of poems. Then thinking about how our sentences can be expanded with noun phrase such as "The yummy ice cream was sticky." Later in the week the children planned their poems ready to write next week.
In Art, we have been painting portraits. We have been learning about individuality and pride, our focus was on how unique we all are and we hoped to reflect this in our art. We took a picture of each other to use ans drew a sketch of our faces. The children mixed paint to support them to create their portraits. They created some fantastic pieces.
In our areas, we have enjoyed making lots of dens and cars still. The children have been working very well as a team, they are excellent at problem-solving and collaborating now. In our creative area, we made some shakers using rice, pasta and sequins.
On Wednesday we have a whole school rounders afternoon, please can we have PE kits in school. Thank you.
Have a lovely week!
