RE and PSHE
03 Jul 2024
In RE this half-term, we have been considering the question: "What makes some places sacred?". We began by thinking about what sacred means and where might be sacred to us. We found that school, home, our rooms and dens were particulalry popular places. Over the following weeks, we have considered sacred religious buildings: churches, synagogues and a mosque. In each lesson, we looked at lots of images of each religious building and thought about why it might be special. This week, we compared the buildings. We thought about how they are physically different but also how they are used differently.
In PSHE, we have been looking at how our bodies grow and change in the unit "changing me". We have focused on naming our body parts, thinking about how our body changes as we get older, including how much we have already grown and changed. This week, we were thinking about touch. We thought about the touches we like such as a high five or a hug from someone we trust and the touches we don't like. The children then reflected on how they interact with one another.
In our classroom areas, we have been enjoying using the crates and wheels to make farm machinery. We have also been using the outdoor area to make lots of dens.
We have also liked making lots of models, painting larger pieces to make an aeroplane and cars.
Have a lovely weekend!
