Music, booklet writing and lots of dens
01 May 2024
A super week in class 1!
In English, we have been building up to writing a booklet all about Bolton Castle ahead of our visit next week. The children spent time looking at other non-chronological reports and identifying key features that they should use in their own writing such as headings, pictures, facts and much more. We spent several weeks unpicking the writing, considering the audience and purpose as well as researching the castle to gather information for our writing. This week, the children wrote their non-chronological reports or booklets on the castle. They each wrote a section on the history, where the castle is and what it looks like and who lived there. They have done a great job!
In Music, we have also been looking at a piece of music called 'in the castle'. The children have been practicing solo singing in front of a audience this week which was a bit scary. They did a great job though and some even had some actions to accompany them.
In our areas, the children have been making boats and little houses. They have also enjoyed doing some planting with Mrs Peel, our outside area is looking lovely!
Next week is a very busy:
Tuesday 7th May- trip to outwood for multi-sports event. Please can children come to school in their PE kit and with a water bottle.
Wednesday 8th May- forest schools. Please can children come with a forest school kit. If there is anybody who would like to volunteer to help, please let me know.
Friday 10th of May- trip to Bolton Castle. Please can children come in their uniform and with appropriate clothing for the weather (sun hat, raincoat etc). If your child normally has a school dinner then they will be provided with a packed lunch but if you would rather bring one from home please let me know. Finally, please ensure you have paid on parentpay. Thanks
Have a lovely long weekend.
