History and RE in Class One
04 Oct 2023
This week we have been finishing our learning on Mary Anning and dinosaurs. We have very much enjoyed this unit of work and found it to be interesting!
Our final lessons focused on the extinction of the dinosaurs. There are many theories but most scientist believe an asteriod hit the earth. We explored the possible theories and wrote about them before considering what we thought.
Finally, we created a two page spread in our books to showcase our knowledge of dinosaurs. The children wrote sentences about Mary Annings life, the extinction of dinosaurs and so on. They drew illustrations to support their work. Well done year one and two, you have worked extremely hard!
In RE, we have been learning about the religion of Islam. So far, we have learnt about the Muslim God, Allah, the Prophet Muhammad and his stories and the Qur'an.
This week our focus was on special objects and places. Firstly, we considered what places and objects were special to us then we thought about where and what might be special to Muslims. We looked at images of Mosques in our area and some of the things Muslims use to pray.
This week has been dylexia awareness week. In class, we learnt more about what dylexia is and celebrating being unique. Everyone is Unique and we can all do amazing things. Sometimes when you have dyslexia you see and do things in a different way. We created a fiend using our own unique fingerprint.
In our areas, we have been enjoying painting both indoors and outside. We have also spent lots of time in the home corner, role playing. We like to play "teachers" too.
Have a lovely weekend.
