First week in class one
06 Sep 2023
Class one have made a great start to the school year. I am so pleased with how well they have settled in and it has been lovely to see how excited they are to start the new school year or for our new reception start school.
This week, we have spent time hearing about our summer holidays, exploring the classroom and starting some of our learning units.
On Wednesday, we enjoyed playing outside in the sunshine. We did some games to practice our throwing and catching. It was lovely to show off our skills and then we went to play. We love playing on rounders... and on the bars!
In Maths, the year ones and twos have focused on time. The children are really good at sining the days of the week and months of the year song which has helped us to learn both. On Thursday and Friday, we began to look at clocks, identifying the time to the hour and half an hour.
We absolutely loved our music session with Mrs Hickingbotham. We played some copying games where we chose an action and then started to learn a new song. It was great fun.
Reception have enjoyed spending lots of time exploring there areas. They have particularly liked the home corner, playing outside and using the construction area. They have made food for the family, baking cakes and pizza. We liked playing in the sand, we made a road in the sand then drove lots of cars and trucks along it.
Reception also made some playdouugh. The carefully measured the ingredients using a cup, added it together then slowly added water whilst kneading it together.
Due to the spelling test falling on a Thursday, I have decided to change the day homework goes out to a Friday. I am sorry for the change so early in the year, hopefully now that should all stay the same. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Have a lovely weekend!
