Our wonderful trip to the Himalayan Gardens
20 Jun 2023
We had the most fantastic day at the Himalayan Gardens. The children were superstars and loved exploring the Gardens.
The day began, we an initial look around. We walked around in groups with a special sheet of plants and minibeats to spot as we walked. The children worked well together and liked ticking them off. We spotted bees, dragon flies, butterflies, ferns and lots of foxgloves. Then we discussed what a plant needs to survive and used our senses to describe the setting.
We stopped mid morning for a rest and a snack. After that we made some artwork using the natural resources around us. The children used images to inspire them and made lots of lovely images. They created faces, flowers and animals using leaves, grass, stones and lots of other things they could find.
After lunch, we had a look at the Sculptures. We talked about what we could see and how the sculptures may have been made. They were very interesting! The children made sketches of the sculptures which will will use later in the week for our Art.
Finally, we finished the day in the playground. What a super day! We are so proud of how well the children represented school and how great they all were. A huge thank you to all of our lovely parents and friends for helping us have such a fantastic day
