PE and Geography
15 Jun 2023
This week has been exceptionally busy and it looks like the upcoming weeks will be much the same. It has been a difficult week but the children have been fantastic. They have coped very well and have been great at supporting one another.
On Monday, our year ones completed the Phonics Screening Check. The chiildren were superstars and really made us very proud!
In PE, we have been practising our throwing and catching skills. The children have shown some excelllent determination and team work this week. We began with a warm up around the field, followed by some practice of our throwing and catching. After, we played a game. We were split into four teams and each team had a hoop, one at a time we had to collect a ball from the middle and throw it to the next person in our line. The children then ran back and the next person went. The team that collected the most balls won. It was really fun and the children did a super job of throwing.
In Geography, our focus has been on our skills and field work. We have been investigating our local area, building up our knowledge to finally drawing a map. We have studied lots of existing maps, made observations of the area using our senses and done lots of work with a compass. On Friday, we sketched out a map of our own.
The children have been loving the sunshine. We made little paddling pools to splash around in to keep cool.
