Class one's fourth week
10 May 2023
Another super week in class one! It has been a bit unusual as the year 6s have been sitting SATs so we swapped classrooms and went into class four on some of the mornings. The children then tried very hard to be a bit quieter so the year 6s could concentrate. They did a super job!
In Maths this week, the reception have been completing a unit on numbers to 20. They have been counting to and from 20 with lots of games. We have practised forming the numerals and trying to recognise them. If there are any opportunities to have a try at home please have a go. The year ones have been focusing on fractions. They have found and recognised half of objects and quantities. They enjoyed folding paper and shading halves of shapes. We then moved onto recognising a quater. Great maths this week, class one!
On Friday, the year ones had fun at forest schools. They have been focusing on planting. In last weeks they planted seeds and this week they planted summer bulbs. The children have also enjoyed drawing the nailing flower pictures, playing in the mud kitchen and making dens.
Meanwhile, reception had a very special treat. They have a marble jar which they fill by working extra hard. Once it has ten marbles, the children get to choose a treat. This time, they decided to have a picnic and invite playgroup. We wrote shopping lists for Miss Thewsey and invitations for playgroup. Then on Friday morning, we hoped for the sun to shine! In the afternoon, we layed out all the food and enjoyed our feast. Unforunately, the sun did not shine but it was fantastic!
We have been loving the sunshine earlier in the week! The children have spent a lot of time outside, building boats, dens, making potions and rockets.
Have a lovely weekend.
