Coronation Celebrations in class one
03 May 2023
We have had a wonderul week, in class one, preparing for our coronation Garden Party. The children have been getting very excited about the event. To prepare, we have made lots of decorations, including paper chains and bunting. The children also made crowns which were used in our crown parade. They spent time colouring, cutting, gluing and decroating. The children were very busy!
We had a wonderful time at the garden party, we hope you all did too! Thank you very much for attending and helping us to celebrate this special time.
As well as this, the year ones have written letters to King Charles telling him all about our celebrations. Our learning began by looking at a book on the King as a stimulus. We then looked at good examples of letters and unpicked the key features, audience and purpose. After that, we used the book that had some information in about King Charles to help us write questions to him some questions. Finally, we planned then wrote our letters to the king.
Reception looked at a picture of King Charles then wrote sentences about him. They tried very hard to sit their letters on the line and form their letters correctly, well done reception.
In our areas this week, we have been roleplaying on the ship. The children love pretending to be Francis Drake, stealing treasure and going to battle with Spain. We have also made transformers, played on the bikes and roleplayed schools. It has been a very busy week.
Thank you again for all of your support. I hope you enjoy the bank holiday weekend and any coronation celebrations. Lets hope the sun manages to get out too!
