Week 2 in class one
26 Apr 2023
It has been another lovely week in class one.
We have been loving our new topics in Maths. Year one are working on a multiplication and division unit. Whilst Reception have focued on counting on and back from 10.
Year one have practiced counting in different amounts including 2s, 5s and 10s as this will support us with our multiplication and division later. This week, we have also looked at making equal groups of objects as this is one of the methods of dividing is to group. The children have used a range of resources to support them but counters have been very helpful.
In Reception, we have had lots of fun using books and songs to practice counting to and from 10. We have also played some games, including snakes and ladders. Our favourite game though is with the dinosaurs on the board. We choose a number for them to start on then roll the dice to see how far back they need to jump. The dinosaurs make lots of noises!
In History, we have begun our new topic on Francis Drake and Neil Armstrong. Our learning is around how they explored. So far, we have looked at how Francis Drake circumnavigated the earth on his ship. We have also learnt about what life was like. He was alive when Queen Elizabeth I was on the thrown, over 400 years ago so a lot has chnaged!
Apologies for all the mud from Forest Schools. They certainly seem to be having fun though!
Thank you for all of you hard work!
Have a great weekend.
