Class one's first week back
20 Apr 2023
Class one has had a very exciting week! On Tuesday, our first job was to release the butterflies that had emerged from their chrysalis in the last few days of the holidays. Mrs Barker had done a super job of looking after them. We chose an area on the field with lots of flowers and Miss Thewsey carefully lifted them out. The children have loved watching each stage of the life cycle.
On Thursday the Year ones went orienteering at Skelton. They had a fantastic afternoon in the sunshine. In orienteering, we made faces using a picture as a guide, completed a mapping activitiy and followed a key on the map. It was a brilliant afternoon.
In Forest Schools, we were shown around the area and discussed how to stay safe. Then we got busy den building, playing in the mud kitchen, making obstacles and much more. We can't wait to go again next week!
Meanwhile Reception enjoyed PE and a special snack. In PE we were focusing on our throwing and catching skills. The children practiced with several games such as fire and ice.
Then on Friday afternoon, playgroup came to play. We absolutely love their visits. The children enjoyed playing on the ship role play, they were pirates going on an adventure to find treasure. I'm sure you will agree, they look very scary as pirates!
