Exploring our world
10 Jan 2023
In Geography, we have started our new topic in which we are focused on the question: "Can you compare Kenya to the UK?". Last week, we began by describing where we live and learning what human and physical features are. Human features are the things built by people and Physical features are natural, they would be here even if humans weren't. To continue our learning, this week we began to look at our local area in more detail by considering how the land is used. We thought that lots of the land is used for farming. On Friday, we started to research Kenya, specifically the Masai Mara National Park. We used computers to conduct research of our own.
The Maasai Mara National Reserve is a large Savannah that is famous world over for the large amount of wildlife including all members of the ‘
Big Five’ which live there. The 'Big Five': Elephant, lion, rhinoceros, leopard and African buffalo.
If you want to find our more about the Maasai Mara National Park at home, please do, we would love to find out more!
In RE, we are spending the next term learning about Judaism. Our big question is "Who is Jewish and what do they believe?". We began last week by considering what is precious to us then linked this to what might be precious to someone of the Jewish faith. We explored lots of Jewish Artefacts and thought about why they might be special.
This week we have particularly enjoyed exploring our outdoor area. Over the coming weeks, this will all be set up for us with a new sand pit and planter as well as the reading shed that appeared over the weekend! The children have loved having continuious access to the bikes especially.
Have a lovely weekend!
