Week 4 in class 1
23 Nov 2022
In class 1, we have been trying very hard with our phonics. The children have a session of phonics everyday which they really enjoy! This week, year 1 have been growing the code by learning alternative graphemes: e-e, ew, ie and aw. We have been trying hard to apply our knowledge. In reception, we have began to learn digraphs (two letters that make one sound). The children have leant: sh, th, ng and nk. They are amazing us all with their writing!
We had great fun on Pupil Voice Day, we enjoyed shared reading, making christmas decorations and learning about how Food Banks help people.
In our areas this week, we have been very busy exploring. We have enjoyed making transformers, obstracle courses and enjoying the home corner (where we are starting to get into the Christmas spirit!)
We used a rolling pin to roll out our salt dough, then we used cutters to make different shapes. Afterwards, we left them to air dry for several days before paining them. It was great fun!
Have a lovely weekend!
