Weddings
13 Oct 2022
Over this half-term, in RE we have been looking at the big question "What does it mean to belong to a faith community?". To help us answer this question we have considered lots of smaller enquiry questions. We began by thinking about the communities we belong to such as, football clubs, rainbows and much more. We decided that whilst we all had some differences there were some similarities such as all belonging to Fountains CE School! Over the weeks, we looked at Judaism, Christianirty and Islam, thinking about what it means to belong to these religions. The children found it very interesting and had lots of questions. Finally, we have leant about how babies and marriages are celebrated in faith communities as these are two significant events that show belonging. There has been so much discussion which has been lovely. The children have also enjoyed watching short clips and looking at pictures to support our learning.
We have explored artefacts and recreated weddings which the children have loved. They have acted out weddings, made flowers and decorations.
These are our chuppahs, a canopy that Jewish people get married under.
As well as getting married this week, we have also enjoyed exploring our areas. The children have particularly liked playing "schools", using the shapes and using stencils.
Just a reminder that we collect reading and homework books in on mondays to change these. If you find any reading books at home that haven't been handed in, please could you return them as soon as possible; we have many sets with some missing which means we are struggling to give every child a book in our groups.
Thank you for all of your ongoing support.
Have a lovely weekend.
