Week 5 in class one
06 Oct 2022
In Maths, our focus has been on number with year 1 looking at numbers to 10 and reception on numbers to 5. The children have enjoyed finding different representations for our numbers and are all beginning to use language such as more, fewer and equal. The children all compared groups, identifying who had more or less. Some were challenged to say how many more or less.
Year 1 have finished their topic this week and will begin looking at part-whole models next week which we are very excited about.

In PE on a Wednesday, we have been doing gymnastics. The children have been practising different rolls such as the pencil roll and the egg roll which they have loved.
We have also spent time exploring our learning in the areas of our classroom. The children have particularly enjoyed making large vehicles with the crates outside. They used the netted crates to create a windscreen and water from the tray to fill up with petrol.
On Tueday, some of the children made a bug house using the materials that had been laid out in a tray. They thought about all the the things a bug needs to survive: water, food and shelter. The tray was filled with conkers, leaves, bark and so on so they thought it would be perfect if it was more covered so they used a hessian sack to create the shelter. They then found grass and put in some water.
Have a lovely weekend!
