Summer term - The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch
15 Jun 2022
This week in Class 1....
Our book this week has been The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch. We have enjoyed listening to the story and retelling it with some of our own ideas!
We used our phonic knowledge to write some sentences about the story.
In our understanding the world learning, we found out about Grace Darling and why she was famous.
We found out some information about what the job of a lighthouse is and how they help the ships out at sea. We also investigated different materials and sorted the ones that were shiny and would help the light shine.
In the creative area we made our own beach scene, some even had a lighthouse too!
We found out about seaside holidays in the past and looked for similarities and differences to seaside holidays now. In the role play area we created a souvenir shop. We thought about the sort of things you might find at the seaside and the things you might want to buy and use. We made price labels and used coins to pay for items.
We also used Punch and Judy puppets to make our own shows after making a puppet theatre.
Have a lovely weekend!
