Spring 1 - Week 1
06 Jan 2022
This week in Class 1...
The children have settled back into classroom routines well and have enjoyed being back in school with their friends. I have been really impressed with all of the childrens attitude to learning as they returned to school and have loved hearing all about their Christmas holiday fun.
We have been busy exploring the signs of winter in our outdoor area. We have had a lot of ice and had fun finding ways to break it up, some of us also enjoyed slipping and sliding and making a balance trail too!
Our whole school Big Question this term is 'What lies above and beneath our feet?'.
In class 1 we will start our understanding the world work by taking a journey to some very cold places and finding out what we might see there.
In phonics this week we have begun phase 3, we have met the new phonemes:
ai ee igh
We have been using our phonic knowledge to blend phonemes into words for reading and segment words for writing.
In maths, we have been exploring the composition of numbers to 5, representing numbers in different ways and beginning to record our findings in different ways.
Have a lovely weekend!
