This week in class 1... On Tuesday, we had our whole school pupil voice day. We worked with our Year 6 buddies and children from across the school to create our school house teams. We had lots of fun and it was a very busy day. On Wednesday we had a lot of toys that needed our help. We followed the children's interests and set up a doctors surgery to make them better. We shared a story about a doctor and talked about the different times we have been to the doctors and the different jobs a doctor or nurse might do to help us to be healthy.
On Friday we had a fire!! We remembered what happened when we had a fire drill at school and what we had to do when the alarm rang. We shared a book about firefighters and police officers to find out what they do to help us. We also looked at some pictures of our homes and talked about the similarities and differences between them. We made a list of different rooms in our homes and the things that are in each room. We looked at different kinds of homes and what homes were like in the past. We then made pictures, models and dens!
In phonics this week we have met the sounds:
ck e u r
We have used our knowledge of some of these letters to help us begin to read words. Games like I spy are good to help tune into the initial sounds in words. See if you can find some of our letters in your sharing books. In maths this week we have been thinking about the numbers 1, 2 and 3. The children have been practising their counting and recognising groups of objects up to 3. Over the next couple of weeks we are going to be thinking about Autumn and Harvest. If you go on a walk over the weekend the children could collect items from the ground that are signs of autumn or take some pictures of the things they see. Maybe they could do some counting too of the different things they see. Please can you also check jumpers at home, we have a missing jumper. Thank you
Have a lovely weekend, see you all on Monday!
