Week 4 - Autumn term
30 Sep 2021
This week in class 1...
This week we found an egg! We talked about some of the things that hatch from an egg and the children guessed what might be inside. Some of the children used tools to find out what was hiding inside and it was a dinosaur...
We shared a story called 'Happy Hatchday'
We talked about what baby animals need to help them to grow and shared our experiences of our own little brothers and sisters.
We thought about what babies do, how they change into toddlers and then talked about some of the things we can do now and showed the things we are good at.
In phonics we have met some new sounds
g o c k
We have continued to practise our blending of sounds into words. This week the children are bringing home a sharing book which they have chosen themselves from our class library. This can be returned next Friday to change.
In maths this week we have met the number 1 and 2. We have looked at the number and how it is written and are starting to count accurately by pointing to an item as we say the number name.
See how many different things you can find that there is only one of and things that come in twos. We have been thinking of quite a lot of things on our bodies!
The children made collections
of 2 objects from around the classroom
We have 2 Jerrie Cats
I have 2 hands!
Next week we are going to be thinking about homes. Please can you send in a photograph of your home to help the children talk about it.
On Tuesday next week Miss Thewsey will be with Class 1 and it is going to be our whole school pupil voice day where the children will be working with children from the other classes to complete different activities. We have all been paired with a Year 6 buddy to help us too!
Remember to add any learning from out of school to evidence me
