Week 3 Summer 2
25 Jun 2021
This week in Class 1 we have been extraordinary gardeners!
We started with a story from our magic box and had lots of discussion about what the different clues might lead to. There was a bean, a boy, a gardening glove, some flowers and a watering can. At first we thought it might be Jack and the Beanstalk but it was a new book called The Extraordinary Gardener by Sam Boughton.
We planted some flowers in our outdoor area just like in the story...
We wrote sentences about our gardens...
We talked about the different parts of a plant and used our knowledge to draw and label a plant...
We have made our own flowers by exploring colour mixing. The flowers are the same height as each child who made them. We have used our cutting skills to make some leaves too...
In phonics this week we are working on our tricky word recognition to help our reading. We are also working hard to use the sounds we know to help us write words and blend sounds to read words. Our homework this week is to practise these skills.
In maths we have been looking for doubles. We have been trying hard to remember what the doubles make without having to count them.
Have a lovely weekend, see you on Monday!
