Week 6 in Class 1
16 Oct 2020
The Real Superheroes!
This week we have been finding out about some more people who help us – Police Officers and Firefighters. We shared a story about the Real Superheroes - not just the ones that wear capes and masks!
We discussed what jobs these people do and how they help to keep us safe. We had lots of fun in our Police Station role play too.
In Maths this week we have been learning about shape. We used the shapes to make some pictures. The children looked for shapes around us and even found some hiding around our classroom!
In phonics this week we have been exploring the following letter sounds
e u r h
We have been having a go at writing the letter, listening and saying its sound and exploring objects that begin with each letter. The children will be bringing home an activity to help them practise the phonemes we have been learning. We have been practising writing our names this week as well as the letters we are learning. Please continue to encourage the children to write their names and letter at home.
Don’t forget you can add a picture to your child’s learning journey to show me what they have been up to over the weekend
The weather is definitely changing and we have been talking about the changes that are happening around us at this time of year. The children have explored our sensory table looking at the colours, sounds and textures of the things we have collected on our adventures out of school. We used some of the leaves for printing and rubbing, had some fun rolling conkers to make marks and made some prickly friends using leaves. We talked about what some of the animals are doing at this time of year.
Next week we are going to be continuing to think about people who help us and in particular those who bring the food to our table. We will also be doing some baking
Have a lovely weekend, see you all on Monday for the last week of the half term!
