Good Morning Class One! I hope you have had a great weekend. I am looking forward to seeing more of your fantastic work this week. I would also love to see some clips of you reading your books - I expect you're getting really good at your reading now! If you have a favourite book that Mummy or Daddy reads to you, you could send us a short video clip and tell us all about it. Maybe you could even use the pictures to tell us the story, if you can remember how it goes?
(For sharing your children's work and learning, please can you continue to use 'Evidence Me' and this can be added to your child's Learning Journey. For any other queries, please feel free to contact me on at Class1@gfschools.co.uk).
Here is your wonderful work from last week! Well done to everyone - you're doing so well!

Here is a new song and dance for you to practise this week,
called 'Little Green Froggy':

Here are some jobs for today:
Phonics
Perhaps you would like to practise your letter formation this morning? You could focus on those naughty letters that try to catch us out, like 'd', 'f', 'g', 'k', 'q', 'w', 'x','y' and 'z' and any others that you find tricky. Don't forget to.....
→
Can you read answer my questions? Can you spot the 'ear' sound?
Here is a Phonics video clip. It has a new sound, 'air', that you might like to practise this week:
→
←
Perhaps you could practise the 'air' sound by playing a game of word bingo. You and your grown-up will need to write out 6-8 'air' words to 'draw from a hat' and each make a bingo sheet, like mine. Practise blending the words as your grown-up robot talks them.
Helpful Hands!
→
←
Well done for helping your grown-up on Friday. You job today is to:
- Help with the laundry! Can you help to fold up and put your clean clothes away? Hang the clothes on the washing line? Put the clothes in the washing machine?
Maths
Perhaps you could play 'Bunny Ears': Grown-ups - With both hands on top of your head, use the fingers on each hand to make a number bond to 5, e.g. show 2 fingers on one hand and 3 on another. Ask your child to tell you the number, copy your fingers and tell you their 'Number sentence' (including 'add' and 'equals'). Ask them to try to find another way of making 5. For a challenge, play bunny ears to 7 or 8.
Here is a song all about 'AAB' patterns for you to join in with. Can you make up your own?:

Can you make up your own AB, AAB and ABB patterns with your toys?
Projects
Here are some projects for this week!:
The project this week aims to provide opportunities for your child to learn more about key animals they are interested in. Learning may focus on exploring the physical aspects of an animal, their habitat, categorising animals etc
● Read the story, ‘Dear Zoo’ or watch an online video:
1.Visit the book’s website and play the interactive games
2.Add your own animal into the story and label it e.g. So they sent me a...hedgehog, but he was too prickly....so I sent him back.
Choose a soft toy animal or small animal figure and create a junk modelled container for it.
● Identify the birds in your garden
1.Use the RSPB bird identifier website
2.Draw a picture of the birds you can see.
● Play animal charades
Take it in turns to act as different animals. Add in noises as a clue…
● Learn the song, ‘The Animals Went in Two by Two’
Ask your child to draw out two of each animal and practice writing the numeral.
● Looking after your pet
If you have a pet at home encourage your child to take part in their daily care. They could help feed, groom and clean up after your pet.
● Big and small animals
Draw as many big animals as you can on one piece of paper and as many small animals as you can on another sheet of paper. Some children may be able to write a list as an alternative.
● Find all of the animal books in your house
Ask your child to look through the books in your house and to find any with animals on the front cover. Ask them to sort the books into groups of their choice e.g. animals that can fly, swim, big, small, live on a farm/ at the zoo.
● Create an animal den
Provide your child with blankets and sheets to make an animal den. Act out being an animal in the den.
Have a lovely day today and remember to look after one another.
