Chinese New Year!
07 Feb 2020
This week in Class One, we have been talking about Chinese New Year. We read the story of the Jade Emperor and the animals' race, and we found out that some of us were born in the year of the sheep and some in the year of the monkey! We learnt about the ways in which Chinese people celebrate and we have been practising our cutting skills to make lanterns and envelopes filled with pretend coins, to give to our friends and family. We also decorated our own dragon in Maths, with green and red spikes, to help us investigate more ways of making seven.
On Monday, we had to call upon our Phonics skills to reply to a letter from the Garden Fairies, who were admiring our Primroses and wanted advice on how to grow their own! We wrote down our advice and have displayed our work in the outdoor area for them to read!
In French, we have been busy practising asking for our fruit and vegetables during snack time and we have learnt to say our names as a sentence today!
This week it is Duncan's turn to feature on the Friendship Wall of Fame. Class One had lots of lovely things to say about Duncan - among them, Sebastian said, "Duncan is good at everything", Isaac Smith said, "Duncan is really nice" and Adria said, "He is my best friend".
Have a great weekend!
