Five Little Monkeys!
24 Jan 2020
This week in Class One we have been talking about our story 'The Tiny Seed'. We wanted to find out more about seeds and where they come from, so we have been busy learning the names of the main parts of a plant and have made some beautiful collages, which you will be able to see on our new washing line. We also talked about the journey the seed takes in the story and had fun re-enacting its adventures through movement and dance. Next week, we will be planting our own plants and will have the opportunity to look more closely at all the different parts and talk about how insects and animals help to sow their seeds.
In Literacy, we have been writing letters to Baby Bear, from Goldilocks, to say sorry for breaking his chair and eating his porridge! We learnt about using finger spaces, to separate our words and full-stops to finish our sentence. I have reassured the children that I will be posting the letters off shortly!
In Maths, we have been investigating different ways of making numbers, by combining two groups. We have been singing and acting out the songs 'Five Little Ducks' and 'Five Little Monkeys jumping on a bed', which has helped us to talk about the ways in which we can split our numbers in two. We have also been exploring ways of recording what we have found.
This week it is Adria's turn to feature of the Friendship Wall of Fame and among some of the lovely thoughts, Jack commented, "She helped me up when I fell over the other day", Daisy said, "She always comes to play with me", and Max said, "She let's us join in with her games".
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
