The Tiny Seed!
R Hebblewhite - 17 Jan 2020
This week in Class One, we read the story, 'The Tiny Seed' by Eric Carle. We talked about what a plant needs in order to grow and we decided that we would like to plant our own seeds, when Spring arrives. We talked about where seeds come from and looked closely at some of the different kinds of seeds we find in the food that we eat...we especially enjoyed being able to eat the fruits afterwards!
In our classroom, we have a new chart called the 'Friendship Wall of Fame'. We have discussed why our friends are special and important, and what they are good at doing. This week it is Jack's turn to have his picture feature on our wall, along with our thoughts on what makes him special! Among some of our comments, the children asked me to write: "Jack is good at letting people play in the playground", "I like playing with him in the Supermarket (role-play area)", and "Jack is good at passing the ball in football".
This week, we have also really enjoyed the opportunity to be able to look at a wider variety of genres in our Reading Corner, thanks to all your kind donations of magazines! This was made a real difference - thank you!
Thank you once more for your continued support in your child's learning. Any comments/record of what they have read to you in their Reading Record is greatly appreciated. They have two new sounds this week, that I have included in their Sound Books, for them to practise whenever possible and I have sent home a small tub, with high-frequency/tricky words, which you might like to also practise at home.
Have a lovely weekend!
