Week 10- A Busy Week
13 Nov 2019
What a busy week we have had this week in Class 1.
On Monday we took part in remembrance activities, we joined the whole school in coming together shortly before the minutes silence to reflect and think of the sacrifices others had made for us.
Back in class we created poppies using different media and we watched a short animation which explained why we wear poppies on Remembrance Day.
As well as this Ripon Fire Brigade came to talk to Class 1 and 2. They told us about the different things they do, not just putting out fires, but rescuing animals, going to car accidents, helping with flooding and giving advice on smoke/fire alarms.
They told us about ringing 999 if we need the fire brigade and that if there was ever a fire in our house. we must get out, stay out, get the fire brigade out. They reassured us that our pets would get out or they would help when they got there and that we can replace our belongings but that we can't be replaced, so we should leave our toys behind and focus on getting ourselves out.
Because we had listened so well we got to go in the fire engine, we tried on the helmets. They were very heavy!!
Then they showed us all the equipment on the fire engine and told us what it did.
On Friday the whole school took part in Children In Need, we all dressed up in our spotty/colourful clothes and bought some yummy cakes.
This week in the class we have done really well with our phonics and reading, we have been trying really hard and it is showing. Our story this week was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We made our own caterpillars, painted butterflies, made mini books and learnt about the lifecycle of a caterpillar.
