Week 3- Phonics and Maths
19 Sep 2019
Alongside continuing to settle into school we have begun our daily phonics and maths sessions. Each morning after the register we start phonics. This week we have learnt the sounds s, a, t, p. We have practised making the sound and learnt actions and songs to help us remember each one. After that we think of words that have that sound in them and try and write the sound in our Phonics Book. We are bringing our Phonics Books home each night so we can show our grown ups what we have done and practise at home. On Monday 30th at 3:30 Miss Rogers is holding a Phonics Information Evening if you have any questions about phonics.
We do maths after snack and break and this week we have been looking at the numbers 1, 2 and 3. To support this learning we have been using the Numberblocks, we are really enjoying the numberblocks. In maths we aren't just learning to recognise the numbers but to count to that number, count that many objects, to know one more and one less, to understand how that number is made up and to get a really good numbersense about each number.
On an afternoon we have been enjoying using our new playground trim trail. We have been climbing, balancing, swinging and working together.
