Class 3 Science

17 Mar 2022

This week Class 3 have adapted really well to a change in teachers and have worked hard with the adults in the classroom. Alongside our usual Maths work we have written diaries in English, read more of Pugs of the Frozen North, set healthy targets in PSHE and thought about Good Friday in RE.

This half term our block subject is Science and we are focusing on animals including humans and living things and their habitats. We have begun our work thinking about humans and focusing on their digestive system and then their teeth. We started off by drawing around each other and labelling the parts of the digestion system we already knew.

We then looked closely at the parts and labelled them before researching their functions. To do our research we used lots of differenet sources; videos, PPTs, websites and information sheets. Next we moved onto teeth, the children showed what they already knew and then we looked closley at the names of the teeth we have and what each type of tooth does.

This week we started an experiment looking at teeth. The children came up with scientific questions that they wanted to find the asnwer to and we talked about how we would make it a fair test and what variables we would be changing.

We then wrote up our test and set up our experiment, we made observations after Day 1 and will do more observations next week before we see if our predictions were correct.

Please remember to do your homework.

Have a lovely weekend
