Big Questions

04 Nov 2021

Welcome back!

What a fantastic week. We have certainly hit the ground running, when we reflected on everything that we have learnt and explored this week, we concluded that we were due a relaxing weekend break! The launch day on Wednesday was fun and everyone enjoyed meeting the unusual animals. Our class enjoyed handling a corn snake, a giant snail, a very large cockroach, and a beautiful guinea pig. You can see how much the children enjoyed it below.

On Wednesday we also launched our new Big Question:

What do we value the most?

We had previously thought about values through our Ancient Greece theme, when we reflected if the Athenians and Spartans valued intelligence. So, we had a bit of a head start when exploring our new big question... We first made a list of all the things we most loved and unsurprisingly family, friends, sports, books, and various hobbies came out top of most peoples lists! But we then dug a big deeper to think how these reflected the values that we hold. The children found this hard but did well and discovered that they thought the values of love, gratitude, health, teamwork, loyalty and kindness as some of the most important values to have. Our school values of faith, hope and love underpin everything we do, and the children spoke about how these values are reflected in our daily actions and activities.
