1.10.21 Some of our Wider Learning

01 Oct 2021

Over the last few weeks in music, we have been looking at different genres.  We started looking at reggae, specifically Bob Marley, and  enjoyed trying out some beat and rhythm exercises using untuned instruments - maracas, drums and tambourines.  We tuned our ears in to listen carefully to the vocals and the intruments.  This week we moved on to popular music.  Mamma Mia proved to be quite a hit with  a few children, who are clearly fans of this musical, already knowing all the words!  We talked about pitch and tempo.

In French, the focus has been numbers 0-20.  We actually managed to do some basic calculations in French and the children challenged each other.  I was very impressed with the effort made to read the number sentences out fully in French, with some very good pronunciation.  The test next week will be whether they can remember the numbers again!

In PSHE, we are completing the Jigsaw Puzzle, 'Being Me In My World'. We have reflected on what it means to be part of 'team' Class 2 and we have considered who all the people are in our school community.  We understand the importance of everyone's role in ensuring that our school is a fun place to learn.  We explored the rights of the child in the context of the UNCRC and understand that all children within the UN have the right to an education.

Next week we are looking forward to our 'Pupil Voice' day.  We have been thinking already about how we can be involved in making changes to our school day.

We hope that you all have a fabulous weekend and we will see you next week.
