Hinduism week

16 Jul 2021

Hinduism Week

This week we have concluded tour whole school focus on Hinduism. Our visitors were absolutely fantatstic and really gave the children a wonderful insight into what is it like being a Hindu and the beliefs, values and traditions that Hindus follow.

The Boys Dressed as Three Gods.

Throughout the week the children have been learning about many varied  aspects of Hinduism - They have learnt more about their beliefs in God and how God is represented. They have also done some really big thinking about life and death, and what happens when a person dies while we explored the Hindu belief in reincarnation and then further explored the idea of Karma. The children also explored a Hindu Mandir, and learnt more about shrines and how they are used.

Then today our visitors really brought Hinduism to life - they brought many resources and artefacts to help the children  reflect and understand the religion first hand. The children were also allowed to explore and ask questions about these later in the session. The children also dressed up, trying on Saris and turbans. Archie remarked that the turban was actually really warm!

Another really fun part of our workshop was learning some Hindu dance! I was really impressed by how quickly they picked up the moves and remembered them!
