Riddles, Rhyme and aRithmetic

09 Jul 2021

What a busy week again! I can't believe we have made it to Friday...

Maths Investigations

In maths on Thursday the children completed a maths challenge with Mrs Donaldson. This was called the twelve pointed star game. Through playing a maths game the children were actually learning about working systematically, considering outcomes, learning how to record meaningfully whilst also working collaboratively with a partner. The children worked hard to complete the investigation and learnt a lot whilst having fun!

May contain Poo!

We have also had a lot of fun in English this week. As well as cracking the present perfect tense with Mrs Donaldson, the children have also been writing some poetry. This was based on our hilarious class novel, The boy who grew dragons. The children learnt about creating a rhyming structure using paired sentences as verses and used a rhyming dictionary to help them to create more meaningful rhymes in their poetry.

We put all our ideas together to create a class poem, see below. But the children also completed their own versions. Warning - they are very funny and contain a lot of poo references!

Just a reminder that the magnets home learning actvitiy is due in on Monday the 19th. We are looking forward to seeing how they have got on.

Next week is Hinduism week and lots of our learning will be around this topic! We have some really fun activities and learning planned and best of all some wonderful visitors from Hinduism Education Services on Friday.

We are really proud of how hard the children continue to work, even with football matches at ridiculous times of the night!Enjoy the excitement of Sunday's match... Lets hope it really is coming home!
