Happy Easter!

26 Mar 2021

Well we have made it to the Easter Break! The children in Class Three have impressed us hugely with their fantastic attitudes to learning. It really has been such a delight to be back in school this past three weeks and We are so proud of everything they have already achieved.

The children have learnt more about the physical geography of our country this week. We focused on the different features of the river, from its beginnings at the source and their end, the mouth. They then worked collaboratively in pairs to produce an explanation poster about a rivers journey. I think you will agree they have done a very good job.

As well as writing and drawing these excellent pieces the children have also re-written their own alternative version of Red Riding Hood this week. We will share more of these after the holidays. But there were a lot of bad Red Riding Hoods and even some very interesting woodcutters!

After our Star Reading Assessment , many of the class have been able to extend their ZPD range. However some children have not and this may be for many reasons, so please reassure them and encourage them not to feel too disappointed. Often children can spend quite a time at one level before then suddenly making a leap. This is just part of the process and nothing to worry about! Keep reading, keep quizzing and the reading levels will naturally progress. It is really important that children are still reading daily, if possible, at home as well as at school.

We ended our week saying goodbye, just for now, to Miss Rogers, who is leaving to have her second little girl.  We will miss her immeasurably in Class 3 and around Fountains, but we wish her and bump, good health and hopefully a bit of sleep each night! After Easter, we are really pleased that Mrs Donaldson is going to continue teaching in Class Three at the beginning of the week to cover Miss Rogers. We warmly welcome her to the Class Three Hive!

Our week ended on a real high with our Easter Egg Hunt - which resulted in some very grateful and happy children clutching delicious, chocolate eggs! A really big thank you to the Friends of Fountains for their generous donation of the easter eggs .

Have a wonderful Easter holiday everyone. Stay safe and well.  We will see you all again very soon for what looks likely to be a jam packed, exciting summer term.

Mrs Lewis, Miss Rogers, Mrs Donaldson.
