Hands on History

Our Greek Day

Many thanks to all the parents who have already paid their contribution towards our fantastic visitor on Tuesday. The experience has really enhanced the childrens learning and brought the topic to life - We have all learnt a lot! If you have not already paid, the link is still available on parent pay.

The children, and adults, all thoroughly enjoyed their day with John Conyard, exlporing the stories of Ancient Greek. It is always wonderful to have real experts talk to the children about our learning themes - it was very inspiring and really sparked the childrens curiousity! John remarked on how fantastic our children's questioning was and I was very proud of the knoweldge they shared about their understanding of the Ancient Olympic games.

Playing with Fire...

All risk assessed! The children used flint and iron to create sparks. We learned that fire was very precious in Ancient Greece and that the Greek homes were lit using olive oil buring lamps.

Hands on History

The children were able to look closely at all the artefacts and learn what they told us about history. The medicinal artefacts really sparked a range of  reactions - from queasyness to wonder!
