Class 3- Science- 4.12.20

04 Dec 2020

This week in Class 3 we have spent lots of time on our Science topic ‘A World of Living things’. At the end of the topic everyone will have produced their own interactive book with a lift the flap page, pop up pages and lots of information.

Here are some pictures of us working on the pages for our books.

We have learnt about different groups of plants. Then we looked at the animal kingdom and learnt about what the terms vertebrate and invertebrate mean. We then began to research some of the groups of animals. We learnt there are 5 groups; amphibians, fish, birds, reptiles and mammals.

Nicholas- "Mammals are warm blooded."
Archie- " Fish are cold blooded."
Lauren- Reptiles have scales and ear holes."
Tom- "Some birds can dance."
Aiden- "Amphibians have moist skin."
Eliza- "Reptiles lay eggs or give birth to live young."

We created classification trees which we will add to as we learn more. We first used lolly sticks and card and then copied them into our Science books.

Alongside science we have been looking at more methods to work out subtraction problems and reading lots of our class book, The Wild Way Home ready to do some super writing next week. Both Miss Rogers and Mrs Lewis are impressed with how hard we have tried on our assessments, we just have a few more to do next week and then we can do something nice and Christmassy on Christmas Jumper Day. Christmas Jumper day is Friday the 11th December please send your £1 donation via ParentPay.

Have a lovely weekend!
