 Morning you lovely lot.

I am learning a lot about you all, yesterday I  found out some of your favourite foods include pancakes, beans, bacon, ice cream, chocolate, pasta, pizza and strawberries! I was impressed by the handwriting I saw, everyone joining really well. Please try and use cursive writing when completing work to give in, just as you would in school, as it keeps you in those great habits you have been building up since Year 2!

Have a lovely day trying out these activities. I look forward to seeing how you get on. Remember if you need me just use the class email or the Purple Mash email.

Reading

Just two more weeks left to achieve this half terms reading target so I would like you to prioritize your reading this week. That means, if you can, do your 30 minutes reading and quizzing before doing anything else, to make sure it isn't forgotten. Remember we are also aiming for those quiz scores to be over 85% to show you are reading and understanding.

Well done to Chloe H, Eliza S, Katie W, Abbey B, Max D, Matilda J, Max J, Harriet S, and William for already smashing their targets! There are so many more of you who are really close too. Who will be next?

 PE

Have a look at the below link. There are lots of ideas for different PE type activities that you could do at home; give one a go!

 Spellings

Now you have all your spellings to practice, I would like you to spend some time researching your spellings and spelling pattern. (If you didn't find them yesterday they are in your Purple Mash email.) What are the meanings of your words? Is there a common link because of the spelling pattern? Can you find other words that fit this spelling pattern - what are the meanings of these new words? Also, remember to practice your words ready for your test next Monday.

 Writing

Today I would like you to write a recipe for me to try.  Before writing your own recipe have a look in some cookbooks at home to see how a good recipe is set out - notice the headings and subheadings. Remember to include a list of ingredients and equipment I will need.  Then write your set of instructions, remembering to include imperative verbs. (Verbs that command you to do something).  You can write the instructions in your workbook or on the computer if you would prefer.

I look forward to having a Class Three cookbook. I will share them with you too so you can try each other's ideas!

Maths

Year Four: Triangles

To build on your work on MyMaths yesterday I would like you to watch this BBC video about triangle types.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zvmxsbk/articles/zggsfrd

Then have a go at page one of this PDF all about Triangles - the answers are on page two. Don't peek until you have completed page one!

Then I would like you to produce a poster or maybe a PowerPoint presentation that classifies the different triangles - tell me about how they are the same and how they are different.

Year Three: Angles

To build on your work on MyMaths yesterday I would like you to have a go at an activity on Purple Mash which is all about angles. I have set it as a 2do so you should be able to find it in your folder.

When you have finished please have a go at your 5 sessions on TT.

2.6 Challenge

How are you getting on with your 2.6 challenge? Did you manage to complete the challenge that you set yourself, or is yours still ongoing like mine? I feel like I have done really well, although some runs have been a bit short... I have raised £20 so far so it has been worth all the leg ache and a few early mornings! How much did you manage to raise for your charity? Let me know your updates this week - pictures of challenges and totals raised would be great so I can add them to our page.

Learning Project: Food

The project this week aims to provide opportunities for you to learn more food. Learning may focus on where different foods originate from, what makes a healthy meal, opportunities to cook etc. As usual use this as an opportunity to research and work on ideas and issues that interest you. Use the ideas below as a starting point but follow your own thoughts and learning.

Let’s Wonder:

What is a balanced diet? Find out about the 5 food groups. Make slides or posters about what you find out about. What are - Carbohydrates, Protein,  Dairy, Fruits and Vegetables, and Fats. Where does your food come from? Which foods come from the UK? What is fairtrade?

 Let’s Create:

Make repeated pattern prints for decorative purposes using various natural materials, e.g potato printing.
Perhaps create some still life observational sketches of fruit. Look at the artwork of Giuseppe Arcimboldo -maybe recreate some of his paintings with fruit.

Time to Talk:

As a family, design a healthy meal plan for the week. Discuss your favorite foods and why you all enjoy them? Talk about healthy and unhealthy foods and explain the importance of eating a balanced diet. Talk to older members of your family and ask them about food - have the types of food available changed? Do they eat differently now? What are their favorite foods?

Understanding Others and Appreciating Differences:

Lunch around the world. Look at lunch around the world and investigate how differently people eat in other parts of the world. Find out what a vegetarian is? Vegan? Kosher food? Halal food?

Reflect:

Reflect on food use and food wastage around the world. Find out about countries which experience famine - why does this happen? Reflect on how you can reduce food waste in your house? Learn about food banks in our area - why are these needed? Who supports food banks? Can you help at all?

Take care and be kind. Remember to pass on a smile and give many hugs to those lovely people who are helping you to be the best you can today. Much love and many smiles to you all.
