Class 3- Week 6- Stone Age Artefacts

15 Oct 2020

Well done again for some fantastic homework this week. We have never had to give out so many Dojos! The scores on TT are incredible. I promise that all this hard work on your tables now will help you so very much, not just in Class three but for the rest of your life! Remember each week to try and practice using your multiples cards and finally complete your 10 garage sessions on TT.

This week in maths Year 3 have been looking at different ways of adding- we have used base 10 pictures, number lines and portioning models. We have earnt lots of dojos after really impressing Miss Rogers by working so hard. The Year 4s have been looking at rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. On Friday we had a go at estimating using our rounding skills.

In English we are looking at instruction writing, we carefully looked at different examples of instructions and picked out the good and bad parts of the examples. We spent time looking at imperative ‘bossy’ verbs and commands. Next week we will be writing our own instructions for different activities.

In our exploration of the Christian idea of The Trinity, we have been considering how Christians show their beliefs in worship and this week we thought about worshiping through song. We enjoyed listening to a song called: God behind, God beside and God Ahead. After thinking about the meaning of the words and what we know about the Christian Trinity, we realised the song is all about God the Holy Spirit. The children then did a fabulous job thinking of further opportunities that the Holy spirit's presence might be a help or comfort to a Christian. Two of my favourite lines were: "When I am lonely and upset. God behind, God beside, God ahead." "When I'm trying to ride my bike. God behind, God beside and God Ahead."

Our Stone Age work this week has involved finishing off our work looking at the Stone Age diet and then moving on to explore our box of Stone Age artefacts.
