Maths, Reading and RE!
13 Jun 2024
Over the last 2 weeks we have begun our new units in lots of our subjects. In Maths, the year 3 children have been developing their understanding of fractions by adding and subtracting fractions and finding fractions of objects and numbers.
In year 4, we have built on our understanding of decimals by comparing and ordering decimal numbers.
We came to the end of our guided reading book ‘Baller Boys’ this week. We have enjoyed this story because it was about our favourite topic – Football! During our reading sessions we have focused on different chapters developing our reading fluency and expression. We then worked together to find answers to questions in the text. When we had finished the book, we completed a book review. Some of use were not happy with the end when one of the team got injured during a game and had to miss the next match – we know how hard that is!
In RE this half term we are looking at the big question – Why do some people think life is a journey?
We began by thinking about our life and the milestones we have met and achieved so far. We then thought about future milestones that people have in their lives and how some of these are celebrated and marked. We also thought about why some people might have rituals for different life events.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Micklefield & Miss Wray
