Writing, Maths and RE
10 May 2024
It has been a busy short week in Class 2.
We have begun a new writing unit based on the text Bike Boy by Jane Considine. This is a fiction unit and it begins with Ben waking up one morning and looking out of his window at the world outside. We then take a journey down the road and have explored kennings to describe the things we see thinking about the way they look or move rather than their actual name.
In maths this week the year 3 children have been working on mass. They have been reading scales, comparing masses and adding and subtracting different weights.
The year 4 children have moved from fractions onto decimals this week. They have been converting tenths into decimals and ordered decimals on a number line.
In RE this week we have continued our work on Pentacost. We have been thinking about this time as the churches birthday and thought about how we would celebrate a birthday and how Christians would mark this time. We used symbols, words and pictures to create Pentacost posters to celebrate this time for Christians.
We are also enjoying our reading for pleasure time every Wednesday and we are going to be having some time each day to read our choosing books too. It has been great to see some magazines being shared from home and we have been sharing our book recommendations too.
Have a lovely weekend Class 2!
